Organ Donation and Obstacles: University Student Survey

Background: Organ transplantation has helped improve the quality of life patients with lethal terminal organ failure. This success is owed to progress made in many fields such as surgery, immunology…However, our country Morocco, we are faced reluctance donate. The study’s objective evaluate perception donation among university students. Methods: We conducted this cross-sectional study descriptive and analytical aims. Our target population consisted 991 students from eight higher education structures. An anonymous questionnaire was distributed those by a single interviewer. questions survey answered four main themes. Thus, two types studies were done. first socio-demographic characteristics selected their knowledge attitudes about donation. second an correlation between characteristics, type level towards Results: 97.2% respondents have already heard If 836 (84.4%) thought that could be effective therapeutic alternative, 155 (15.6%) not aware possibility. Furthermore, 298 students, which means 30.1% did know practiced Morocco. causes refusal found numerous. 68.5% blamed lack information cause reluctance. 64.7% afraid trafficking. 41.1% refused idea mutilating body deceased, impact funeral. 37.3% would violation human according religious values. 33.9% against because they hoped brain-dead patient wake up. results showed very favorable attitude transplantation, despite on subject. Conclusion: revealed absence practice Morocco underestimation number people waiting for transplantation. On other hand, like data literature, highlights obstacles confidence legislation governing country.
